Beckworth Emporium, Northampton
Beckworth Emporium is a garden centre with a food hall specialising in local produce, located in Northampton. This year saw the opening of their brand-new restaurant; ‘The Restaurant in the Glasshouse’. Aiming to bring an all-new restaurant experience, you can enjoy a relaxed dining atmosphere in the natural light of the glass conservatory space.
Tiling commenced on the expansion and refurb of the commercial business premises in April 2021 and was completed by mid-May 2021. The tiling contractors on this job were Richmond Ceramics. The total tiled area came to approximately 1400m2 using Gladbeck 2WDR004 Mid Grey Tiles, 1200mm X 600mm x 8mm.
“The client is delighted with the result and looking forward to welcoming back customers now that the restaurant is open to the public again” says Gavin Spencer, Director at Richmond Ceramics.
Norcros Adhesives became involved in the Beckworth refurbishment via Richmond Ceramics as they were able to provide a full M40 specification for this project.
The Beckworth job included several areas that were a combination of old and new substrates, so Permalayer was required to compensate for any shrinkage during the curing of new concrete. Permalayer also allowed Richmond Ceramics to start tiling after only 2 days, alternatively, they would have to wait 42 days which is the British Standard recommended curing time prior to tiling onto new concrete. This really helped to get the project completed in the tight time scale set out by the client.
S1 Rapid Set Adhesive was specified to give increased protection against background movement stresses and to give greater tolerance to a problematic screed. 4-Into-1 grout was specified as it is rapid setting, anti-bacterial, flexible, and water-resistant.
